Terrell Owens has made a name for himself since he was selected in the third round of the 1996 NFL draft. From breaking several NFL records to controversial spats with the teams he has played for to his touchdown celebrations, the NFL wide receiver has been in the headlines a lot over his career. Owens hasn’t appeared in a NFL game since 2010 and was released from the Seattle Seahawks in 2012 making him less prevalent in the news until recently.

Last Wednesday, T.O. made his debut as a semi-processional bowler at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championship. Owens spent an increasing amount of time around bowling after becoming the celebrity owner of the Dallas Strikers, one of the five-player teams in the new Professional Bowlers Association League. After becoming involved with the Dallas Strikers, Owens started working with coaches and professional bowlers to improve his own game.

Owens rolled games of 185, 129, and 161 for a 475 series at the tournament, which took place at the National Bowling Stadium in Nevada. His team, Bowlers Journal International, included Tom Clark, the PBA commissioner, Mike Jakubowski and Jason Thomas, from the PBA’s online bowling channel Xtra Frame, and Ed Baur, the United States Bowling Congress Open Champions titlist.

As the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament progresses, many are joining those of us whose brackets are well and truly busted. Sometimes it seems like there’s nothing you can do to help your team to win. But for those who believe in a little bit of magic, the right moves on game day just might help your team to progress onward in this year’s tourney.

Game day superstitions range from the truly harmless to the incredibly complex and downright weird. The lengths that true fans go to in order to assert control of their team’s fate are considered absurd by some, but absolutely essential to others. Whether it’s who you are with, what you are wearing, or where you are sitting, props to you for doing your all to win. Here are some of the most common game day superstitions. Consider these your inspiration to do your part for the team.

One of the most classic game day superstitions is regarding your apparel. Whatever jersey, t-shirt, hat, or even underwear you had on the day of a big win is forever lucky in the eyes of the superstitious. From that day on, every game MUST be watched while wearing that item of clothing. My advice: shop around for the best in team apparel. If you’re going to be stuck in something for a whole season, it better be a pretty great outfit. Check out this site for college level apparel if you’re looking to upgrade your wardrobe in efforts to spur your team onward in the NCAA tournament.

Another game day superstition isn’t about you, but about who you watch the game with. Maybe you’re not the lucky one, but if you can reassemble the exact party with whom you watched the playoffs last year, things will go your way. Whenever a big game arises, look around and see who is enjoying it with you. Hopefully you can handle hanging out with them for as long as it takes to make the team win.

No game day is complete without snacks, and these can turn into a big superstition as well. Did you have an Oreo in your hand last time your team made one from half court at the buzzer? You had better stock up on the double-stufs before the next game, or your team could be in trouble. Kick the superstition up a notch by making food from the opposing team’s hometown. Check out this site, featuring famous dishes from each of the fifty states. These kinds of mind tricks are sure to jinx the competition, if only you believe hard enough.

If your superstition borders on compulsion, try this one out throughout the game. Whenever things go well, don’t change a thing! No bathroom breaks, readjusting positions, adjusting the volume, or anything. Or try a combination of all the typical superstitions- make the same meal, wear the same clothes, and call up the same buddies every single game. Superstitions start to get more and more ridiculous when they get more and more complex, but hey, they might be more effective too.

The most important advice for even the mildly superstitious is that once you find something that works, never ever give it up. Remember, the fate of the game is in your hands.

Baseball players, tennis players, golfers, pool players, and more all try different strategies so they can develop a routine that works best for them. Developing a routine will force you to give more thought to what you are doing and help your concentration. You want to think about what you want to do before you approach the lane. Some people choose a board on the approach they want to stand on or what target they want to aim at. Once on the approach, they tend to their checklist or follow their routine.

Sample Checklist:
1. Get feet set on the proper board and assure you’re a proper distance from the foul line.
2. Get right elbow tucked in close to body.
3. Get hand in the proper starting position.
4. Use left hand to help support weight ball.
5. Flex knees and make sure weight is balanced.
6. Set ball in alignment with target.

Each bowler is different and may add or subtract from this list. With practice, most of these things will become automatic. Because bowling is a game of repetition, it is very important to develop a consistent routine.

When you are in competition, isolate each shot and do not let a previous bad shot distract you from your current shot. The more you discipline yourself to stick to your routine, the better you will perform under pressure.

Yes, he did dope to win the Tour de France. It’s a big deal for him and his PR team is going to have to deal with hell for a while, but doping is no new issue, and it’s not a phenomenon that’s only present in U.S. athletes. In fact, if we look at a worldwide sport such as soccer, there have been dopers there too. Take, for instance, Adrian Mutu.

A few years back, Adrian Mutu was ordered to pay Chelsea £14.3 million in compensation after losing his final appeal in the Swiss Federal Court. Chelsea terminated the Romanian’s contract after he tested positive for cocaine use in 2004 even though he still had almost four years to run in his contract. Mutu then moved to Italy and spent time with Juventus and Fiorentina, but then served a nine-month doping ban in Italy after testing positive twice for the banned stimulant sibutramine.

Chelsea claimed that Mutu was in breach of his contract. They were originally awarded damages by the Court of Arbitration for Sport and FIFA which ruled that Mutu must pay the damages himself, which included the unpaid transfer fee and other related damages. The original decisions were appealed against by Mutu to determine whether CAS followed the correct legal process and whether the compensation amount violated legal principles. After five years, the Swiss Federal Court upheld the decisions, ordering that Mutu pay Chelsea the full amount.

The CAS held that Mutu, as a result of his testing positive for cocaine and effectively breaching his contract, was liable for an unamortised portion of this transfer fee (and other related damages). The two interesting parts to this decision is that Chelsea had paid the transfer fee to Parma, effectively creating a contract between the two in which Mutu was not related, however Mutu was ordered to pay damages due to his breach of a subsequently created contract. Additionally, he was ordered to pay out his contract, with four years to remain.

Still with me? Well, if you’re wondering what to make from all that, it’s this – don’t dope!

The game of tennis demands exceptional agility, technique and strength out of its players. It involves high levels of concentration and the ability to keep one’s emotions in check. Given these requirements, it’s understandable why there are so few who can rightly boast the claim of being “the world’s best”. Ultimately, every year, it comes down to one man. Throughout the years of the game, there have been many intense rivalries leading up to who would be declared the current greatest male tennis player in the world.

One rivalry worth noting is Bjorn Borg vs. John McEnroe. The primary reason for the intrigue involved in watching their rivalry was the fact that they were very different in their emotions while playing the game. McEnroe was more temperamental, showing his emotions intensely, whether they be good or bad. Borg, on the other hand, was very cool and collected. The rivals met 14 times between the years of 1978 and 1981, each gaining 7 victories. Among their most famous matches were those that took place at Wimbledon. In 1980, Borg beat McEnroe in a nail-biting 20 minute long tiebreaker. The next year, however, McEnroe returned and defeated Borg in a high energy five set game.

Another rivalry, which stands forever the history of tennis, is that between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Federer had dominated the game for five years before Nadal defeated him at Wimbledon in 2008. That game was a thrilling spectacle, which ran for 4 hours and 48 minutes. Federer had the skills needed to do the basics of tennis perfectly. He had a powerful forehand and an unpredictable serve. He also was very quick around the court. Nadal performed best on clay courts and preferred them to grass and hard courts. Thus, his forehand wasn’t as strong as Federer’s, but he had a powerful backhand and an exceptional talent to put top spin on the ball when needed, along with speed and agility. Ultimately, Nadal’s skills proved to be what it took to beat the current reigning champ.

For example, Penn State. They’ve done pretty well despite the sanctions and some players have collected football honors. Ohio State had a 12-0 season and their sanctions have haunted them as well.

Some say programs that did wrong shouldn’t be glorified – I’m not disagreeing. What’s happened at Ohio State and Penn State is nothing to be proud of. However, people still feel loyalty to their teams and thus will continue to harbor team pride. Die-hard sports fans, they are. They won’t admit The Big Ten sucks.

We’ve all heard the term “die hard sports fan,” but I guarantee that you haven’t truly met one until you’ve met my best friend. She’s truly a die-hard Buckeyes fan. Always has been. This means she watches home game in person amongst a huge, obnoxious crowd and gets cozy on her couch to watch all away games.

So naturally, when her Birthday was getting close, I knew I just HAD to get her something Buckeye-related. Being her best friend and a fairly dedicated Buckeye fan myself, I would often accompany her to home games. I remember one day her telling me she wished she had a stylish Ohio State Hat to sport at games. Keeping that in mind, I picked out the perfect hat for her. The particular hat I picked out is unique in that it is distinctly Buckeye gear with the same font choices, but it’s much more feminine than other hat choices. It’s got a plastic snap tab closure and it features a woven label on the front with the school name, mascot and logo. She’s a bit of a girly girl, so it fit her perfectly, literally.

I also knew she’d love some sweatpants to wear as she was keeping warm watching those away games with friends. She may be girly and like to dress up, but she knows when to dress down and be casual. Just for these occasions, I picked out some scarlet Ohio State sweatpants that seemed to have her name written all over them. They’re fleece, for extra comfort and they have an embroidered Ohio State logo on the left front leg. Needless to say, she was incredibly psyched to unwrap these essential pieces of Buckeye apparel and has since begun to seek out items herself.

At first, I was worried that she’d buy everything she needed or wanted, but then I began browsing the products even further and realized that there would always be something I could pick out for her. With all this new gear, she’s sure to show her even stronger Buckeye pride, now that they’re 12-0!

There are, however, competitions where agility, strength, intelligence and obedience are the key areas being judged. These attributes are essential in competitions known as dog agility competitions. In this type of competition, the dog handler must guide their dog through an obstacle course using gesture and voice commands alone. If dog health in increased through dog supplements, their physical performance may be enhanced. They are not allowed to touch the obstacles or the dog and must remain by the dog’s side in order to properly guide him through the course. This requires a high level of endurance on both parts and a high level of obedience and intelligence of the dog. The owner must exhibit patience and a high level of trust with their canine companion.

Although dogs and their masters are allowed a trot through the course before attempting it for judging, there may still be communication barriers they must break in order to complete the course successfully. There are many types of obstacles that dogs and owners will be challenged with in any given competition. One such obstacle is an A-frame, which consists of two boards running upwards as ramps, which meet in the center. They generally stand six feet above the ground and are covered with rubber surfaces to ensure the dogs can get a good grip. Climbing these ramps require the dog to be in excellent health. Herbal health products for dogs can help make this possible if your dog is suffering from allergies or various other illnesses. Dogwalks in similar in that they have two ramps, but they have a section in the middle that joins the two. This obstacle usually stands four feet above the ground and also has rubber padding. There is even a teeter-totter obstacle in which the dog is commanded to stand on one end and then walk to the other as it descends. Since some dogs are smaller than others, they are given more time to complete courses, partially due to this obstacle. Tunnels are a crowd favorite. They are a long tube constructed from vinyl that the dog runs though, sometimes in a straight line or in curves. Lastly, one of the most popular obstacles are jumps. There are several kinds of jumps. These jumps include hurdles, a broad jump (or long jump) and tire jumps.

Of course, despite this list of many obstacles, there are still many more being used in competitions today. The combinations of dog breeds and obstacle and course types are seemingly endless. In order to maintain proper dog health and therefore, improve physical performance, dog owners sometimes use to combat canine health issues. Regardless of the obstacles, however, the most important thing is that the owner and the dog have an established relationship involving a high level of trust and understanding.

I have never heard so much talk about defense and WAR (Wins above replacement) in an MVP debate in my life. Sure Justin Verlander won MVP last year, but that was on a completely different level as a defensive player. It’s always been in the past the three offensive categories that are always been focused on (Batting Average, Home runs and RBI), whether they are lineup dependent or not, and hitting in the clutch (see: Ryan Braun over Matt Kemp in 2011).

Since August 1, Mike Trout is hitting .272, Miguel: .334. From the 7th inning on, Miguel’s average is near .340 and his power production is higher. The fact that Miguel’s OBP this season is the lowest of the last three is irrelevant. Bringing in Prince Fielder forced teams to pitch to Miguel, thus bringing down his walk total, and giving him a chance to swing (re: 44HR, 139RBI) and put up the numbers he was capable of but never had with a depleted Tigers lineup in years past. With his play down the stretch, his position change at the beginning of the season, his overly criticized par-level defense and the fact that he will win the triple crown – not for notoriety, but for the fact that he has been, simple put, the best hitter in the league all season.

Not to mention the most important non statistical factor of them all. The Angels are not going to the playoffs while the Tigers are. The Angels at the start of the season were the favored team to win it all, and they spent tons of money on getting talent to get to the playoffs, so to say they didn’t have a chance to make it in the first place isn’t a valid argument. Yes, the Tigers were an early season favorite to win their division and make the playoffs as well, but no other player in the American or National league has carried his team more throughout the season and has been responsible for snatching up wins with walkoff RBIs and late inning home runs than Cabrerra. The fact that the there is still any debate for the AL MVP and everyone’s continuing infatuated with the Trout rookie love story blows my mind.

Ohio State University has a history of winning football matches. Most of the people residing in this state are supporters of the Ohio State University football team. They are proud to put on the Ohio state gear and watch the matches of their favorite team. As a result a large number of people flock the Ohio State Fan Shop to buy apparel, gear and gifts.

The top 5 coaches of Ohio State University football team and their achievements are listed below:

John Wilce

His full name was John Woodworth “Jack” Wilce. He was an American football player and coach apart from being a physician, and university professor. He served as the head coach at Ohio State University from 1913 to 1928. He was introduced into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 1954. In 1913, Ohio State began playing in the Western Conference and hired Wilce as its head football coach. His teams won a conference championship in 1916 and in 1917 when Ohio State played its first bowl game, losing the 1921 Rose Bowl to California. Wilce also coached the Ohio State Buckeyes football team for sixteen seasons.

Wes Fesler

His full name was Wesley Eugene “Wes” Fesler. He was multi-talented and was an American football, basketball, and baseball player and coach of football and basketball. Apart from this, he was three-sport athlete at Ohio State University. Fesler was the head football coach at Wesleyan University, the University of Pittsburgh, Ohio State, and the University of Minnesota. Fesler was included into the College Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1954. In 1949, Fesler’s Ohio State team was the Big Ten Conference co-champion and beat California in the Rose Bowl. Fesler developed the Heisman Trophy winner Vic Janowicz at Ohio State and two-time Big Ten MVP Paul Giel at Minnesota.

Woody Hayes

Wayne Woodrow “Woody” Hayes was an American football player and a top grade coach. He served as the head coach at Denison University, Miami University as well as Ohio State University. In his 28 seasons as the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes football program, Hayes’s teams won five national championships in 1954, 1957, 1961, 1968 and 1970. He also captured 13 Big Ten Conference titles. But, though his great achievements, his coaching career ended ignominiously. He was dismissed after striking an opposing player during the 1978 Gator Bowl. He was included into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 1983.

Luke Fickell

Luke Fickell is an American football coach and ex-player. He is currently the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He remained an assistant at Ohio State for over ten seasons and served as the team’s interim head coach in the 2011 football season. Fickell’s stint as head coach, ended as Urban Meyer was hired in his position. He coached the Buckeyes one last time in the 2012 Gator Bowl against the Florida Gators and received round of applause from the crowd along with a minute-long standing ovation.

Urban Meyer

Urban Meyer is debatably the best coach with the highest profile hired by the Ohio State ever. His resume is more decorated than any other football coach Ohio State has ever hired. His football is certainly more exciting than anyone else. If he’s able to dominate Michigan and pick up a national title or two, there is a chance there will be a street named after him. No doubt that Hayes was the top coaches of Ohio, but a great career may make Meyer his equal.

Once you’re aware of the precious qualities of the Ohio football coaches, it becomes easier for you to understand the key to their success.

You know you love them. So do we. Most importantly, we’re here to write about them. Obsessively and randomly. So tonight we go live and we’re going to discuss the event of the night that Sportscenter will annoy us all to death with for the next few days/weeks/months – the Miami Heat finally winning a title. Ugh.

As if we haven’t gotten enough LeBron James, now he’s won an NBA title and it’s only going to get worse. We get it, he’s a freak athlete. But no matter how many times it’s been said I can’t get over the construction of the uber team it took to do so. There’s something distinctly un-American about shooting fish in a barrel. We respect the loaner who toils at his craft until he overcomes incredible odds to win. Hell, Dirk Nowitzki’s road to a ring (which he did so by beating these very same Heat a year ago) seems more American. Yes, Mark Cuban’s not afraid to throw some money at his roster to improve it, but I don’t think the fans or Dirk would have appreciated that title as much had they gone out and picked up Dwight Howard and Deron Williams to get him there. Meh…I just don’t buy it.

So now we’re truly entering the era of LeBron. Even with Dwyane Wade in the lineup, he put his stamp on this team and now the NBA has to try to put a team together that can compete. But how exactly will someone beat this team over the course of seven games? When they use their athleticism to pressure on defense and then get out and run, they’re extremely difficult to match up against. Not to mention, they have two of the most difficult one on one players to defend in the league. So even when only one of them’s on the court they can create baskets.

Obviously the weakness is up front, and they’re not even that weak there. Undersized, yes, but Chris Bosh is still able to score in the post while healthy and can hold his own on the glass. Plug in a couple other average big bodies and shooters (like they had this year) and they’re pretty well stacked.

Sadly, it’s going to take another super-type team to beat them I’m afraid. Even with another super team, it’s unlikely any amalgamation of talent will be able to eclipse the LeBron/Wade level of excellence, so they’ll have to be incredibly strong up front to exploit that “weakness”, while still being good enough in the back court to handle the Heat’s pressure and also be able to guard them in return.

So that sounds like the game plan…but who can actually execute it?
